About Bags and Briefcases

Updated on

Bags and Briefcases is an independent buying-guide site. We help you choose a briefcase, laptop bag, messenger bag, rolling case or work backpack with less guesswork.

This website is not a store. We don't sell bags, take orders or ship anything.

Who we write for

We write for people who carry a laptop and a few papers to work, to court, to class or on a trip. You don't need to know bag words like gusset or denier, because we explain them in plain language.

Many of our readers are replacing an old bag that wore out or no longer fits a newer laptop.

What we cover

Our guides cover leather and expandable briefcases, attache cases, messenger and tote bags, rolling laptop bags and laptop backpacks. We also write about fit, cleaning and everyday carrying.

Several guides compare two kinds of bag side by side, so you can see the trade-offs before you buy.

What we do

We read the product details, size charts and maker information for each bag we cover. We also look at what buyers often say after using it.

Then we turn that into plain guides and clear picks. You can read more on our How we research page.

What we don't do

We don't make or sell bags, and no maker pays us to rank its products.

We don't claim to have tested every bag ourselves. When we pick one, we tell you why, based on its size, materials, features and buyer feedback.

How we earn money

Some links on this site go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through one of them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

That never changes which bags we pick. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
